The primary objective of this study was to investigate the effects of demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the Hispanic households on their demands for meats, an important component in the diet of U.S. households. A secondary objective was to compare the results with other ethnic groups in the United States. This researcher is expected to complement the results of earlier studies on food consumption patterns. A study of this nature offers improved information to producers, food processors, wholesalers, and retailers about the meat consumption patterns of the Hispanic community, and the role of socioeconomic factors and income transfer payments in the demand for meats in the U.S. In addition, the comparison with other ethnic groups contributes to a deeper understanding of the demand for meats within the context of the whole U.S. population. |
